NEW! Sixth Form Scholarships for 2023/25
A Level and The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)
Now open for applications!
St. Joseph’s Institution International School Malaysia is offering the Cambridge A Level and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scholarships to deserving students entering Year 12 in August 2023. In line with our school values and traditions, the school is offering this unique scholarship to provide talented and capable students who wish to embark on the Cambridge A Level or IBDP the opportunity to be a part of the school, to flourish under the guidance of its teachers, and to develop as Lasallian leaders. Our scholarships are awarded based on a combination of both merit and means-tested outcomes.
The Cambridge A Level and IBDP are 2-year educational programmes primarily aimed at students aged 16-18. Success in the programmes will offer students the opportunity to gain access to the best universities in the world. SJIIM has an excellent track record for academic success with the average IBDP score across all of our five cohorts has been 38 points out of 45, and in 2021 over half of the cohort received a perfect score of 45 points. This compares with the world average of 33 points. Many of our scholars went on to receive scholarships from foreign universities. In our first A Level cohort, we have every confidence that we will be able to achieve similar results in 2025.
Amongst the notable universities that our Sixth Form alumni have been accepted to are University of Pennsylvania, Princeton University, the University of Oxford, University of British Columbia, New York University, Abu Dhabi, Imperial College London, Tsinghua University, National University of Singapore, Yale-NUS, Nanyang Technological University and Osaka University.
We are now inviting suitably qualified students from different high school backgrounds including from the IGCSE, SPM and MYP, as well as other equivalent courses, to apply for our Sixth Form scholarships. SPM/IGCSE students who will be completing their exams in early 2023 may also apply for our August 2023 scholarships, should they be able to provide evidence of strong academic performance which will give an indication that they will be able to do well in the Cambridge A Level or IBDP.
Our merit-based and means-tested scholarships cover between 50% and 100% of the full programme tuition fees for 2 years. Applicants are expected to be able to provide evidence of good academic performance and demonstrate active participation and leadership in co-curricular activities (music/sports/art) and service activities.
Applications close on 27th January 2023. Full applications, including all relevant documents, are to be emailed to: scholarships@sji-international.edu.my
All successful applicants will be required to take part in a Lasallian Immersion/Leadership programme during August 2023 as part of the scholarship programme. Flight costs, if applicable, will need to be borne by the student’s family while the cost of the trip will be subsidised by SJIIM based on the quantum of the scholarship received.
Timeline of events:
Applications close on Friday, 27th January 2023.
First shortlisting of applicants: Friday, 10th February 2023.
Scholarship tests and interviews: Friday, 24th February 2023.
Applicants can expect to know the results: by Friday, 17th March 2023.
Participation in the Lasallian camp is expected for all new scholars in August 2023.
